The two central characters of the Christmas story are without question the baby Jesus and his mother Mary. In this seasonal concert we present a program focused on Mary, the inspiration for a wealth of glorious choral music from the late Middle Ages to the late twentieth century. The program includes the exuberant Magnificat Quinti Toni by Hieronymus Praetorius, motets by Mouton and Verdelot, Byrd’s famous Lullaby, and modern works by Gorecki, Tavener, Chilcott, and Busto.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors age 65 and older, and $5 for students and children. They are available in advance from New Dominion Bookshop at 404 East Main St, Charlottesville; from Greenberry’s in the Barracks Road Shopping Center; and at the door.
